Superintendent's Superhero for the month of March: Melissa (Missy) Adkins!
Melissa has been a dedicated teacher at Spring Hill Elementary for over 20 years, starting with special education for 8 years and then teaching math. She continuously enhances her abilities and knowledge by taking classes. Melissa goes above and beyond by taking on extra jobs and showing a special interest in each and every student. Her impact is truly remarkable, as her present and past students often approach her in public to share their stories and give hugs.

Ashley Brown from Explorer Academy named Superintendent¡¯s Superhero for December
We are excited to celebrate Ashley Brown, Explorer Academy¡¯s music teacher, SYSOP, bee keeper, and all-around champion of learning opportunities for students. She was nominated for her dedication to creating positive experiences for students through musical performances and the innovative ways she incorporates student voice and curriculum into student work. She has also successfully funded many instruments and musical tools through Donors Choose fundraisers. When she¡¯s not teaching music, she can be found helping teachers with technology as the school¡¯s SYSOP or tending to Explorer¡¯s community of bees.

Ms. Powers was nominated by one of her students for the ways in which she cares for all students, those in and outside her class. She was described as helping every student, being a champion for students helping them work towards graduation, and being available and easy to talk to for everyone.
