Ashley Brown from Explorer Academy named Superintendent’s Superhero for December

We are excited to celebrate Ashley Brown, Explorer Academy’s music teacher, SYSOP, bee keeper, and all-around champion of learning opportunities for students.  She was nominated for her dedication to creating positive experiences for students through musical performances and the innovative ways she incorporates student voice and curriculum into student work.  She has also successfully funded many instruments and musical tools through Donors Choose fundraisers.  When she’s not teaching music, she can be found helping teachers with technology as the school’s SYSOP or tending to Explorer’s community of bees.

“Ashley Brown is a consummate professional who goes above and beyond to collaborate with her colleagues, create exciting learning experiences for our students, and volunteers to support many other programs in our school. She is our resident beekeeper, DJ extraordinaire, Leadership Team member, and spearheaded the development of our intensives program, which includes Show Choir and Theatre,” says Ryan McKenzie, Principal of Explorer Academy

We are grateful for Ms. Brown and her willingness to engage with students in authentic ways, bringing the content she teaches to life through hands-on experiences and personalized learning.
