Ashlee Hayes is a Special Education teacher at Cabell Midland High School and the Superintendent's Superhero for May 2023. Besides being nominated by colleagues Cody Ballangee and Kellie Plumley in appreciation for her teaching mentorship, Ms. Hayes also received multiple nominations from Cabell Midland students and staff after they witnessed her performing CPR on one of her students. When the student suddenly collapsed near the school’s softball field, she immediately initiated life-saving measures, and continued to deliver CPR until emergency medical services arrived. In many of the nominations received, individuals cited Ashlee’s overall dedication to her school and students, as well as the extensive work she does preparing them to compete in the Cabell County Special Olympics.
